One of my goals in 2015 is to submit at least six themes to the theme repository and Parchment is the second to be submitted this year.

Parchment is one-column minimalist theme which is designed to be simple but allow you to customize it to express your personal preference. After careful consideration of “too much options” vs. “enough option” I finally settled down to three customizable aspects:

  1. Text & link color
  2. Background color / image
  3. Typography (serif, sans-serif, or monospace)

The development process of Parchment is quite fast. It is even the fastest theme I develop so far1. Having a specific deadline2 forced you to do thing faster, apparently.

Anyway, there’s one thing I stumbled upon on the process of developing Parchment. Originally, the theme’s original name is “Manuscript”. However, the name cannot be used since there’s a theme that has been submitted using that name three years ago. Even though the submitted theme was not approved to be published in the repository, the name cannot be used due to “existing theme submission system”3.

Thus, I looked for another name which invokes similar feeling, and Parchment it is.

If you are interested in Parchment, you can read more about it here.

  1. In less then a month

  2. I think it’d be great if I can release a free theme in a month
